True Stories, True Inspiration

Our patients can tell you stories. And thankfully, with happy endings. Here are a few examples of what some of our patients have had to say about their experiences at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center ER:

Lisa Payne

I was stricken all of a sudden. I had an initial wave of tightness in my chest, followed by numbness in my left arm that moved to my jaw. I thought to myself, ‘I cannot believe this. I think I’m having a heart attack.’

Edwin Thate

For Edwin Thate, a hot day turned dangerous, but fast cooling and treatment at UM St. Joseph Medical Center’s ED saved his life.

Laura Sands

Back in June I had to go to the ER. My left sinus was completely blocked… I never thought I could have pain that was so bad – it was as bad a labor. Everyone at the ER was wonderful. They were very concerned and understanding.

Trish Thibeault

The ambulance rushed him to University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center’s The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Emergency Department. The nurses and doctors were literally waiting at the door for us. We knew that this was a huge medical problem. Everyone took care of us so fast it was amazing.

Pam Moss

He was thrilled about his experience. Everyone was very nice. It was a very positive experience. Only 20 percent of people survive this type of problem and even less survive without a lot of heart problems or brain damage from the lack of oxygen.
